Force10’s Trademark Usage Guidelines:
- Use of the Trademarks in General.
- Force10 welcomes any use of Force10 trademarks or service marks that furthers both Force10’s interests and the interests of each company or other entity that has been granted a license by Force10 to use certain of the trademarks listed above ("Trademark(s)") pursuant to an executed, written agreement between such entity and Force10 ("Licensee(s)"). All use of the Trademarks by Licensees shall inure to the benefit of and be on behalf of Force10, and Licensee's utilization of the Trademarks will not create any right, title or interest in or to such Trademarks in Licensee.
- Each Trademark shall be used as listed above (and logos shall be used as further described below). This document also offers some examples of unacceptable usage, so Licensee will know what to avoid.
All proposed usage by Licensee of Force10’s logos and package design must be approved in writing by Force10’s Marketing Department prior to printing.
- Specific Guidelines.
- Correct Trademark Use. Always use the Trademark as a proper adjective followed by a generic name to identify the product (i.e., Correct: The E-Series® family of switch/routers contains innovative design features; Incorrect: The E-Series® contains innovative design features.). The Trademark should be distinguished from the other words in the text by using Italics, bold, a different typeface, color etc.
- Unacceptable Trademark Use.
Do not add or modify the Trademark in any way. Please check with the Force10 Marketing Department if you have any questions regarding positioning or horizontal or vertical scale of Trademarks, use of Trademarks with other marks, adding graphic elements to the Trademark or using the Trademark as anything other than a proper adjective.
Do not use old versions of the Trademark.
Do not use the logos in a sentence.
- Name. Force10 Networks on the first usage, Force10 for subsequent usages.
- Series. The product should always be referred to as the E-Series, or C-Series etc. Note capital letter before the dash and capital S for Series. There is always a dash. Specific products are referred to as the E1200 or S50V, with no dash. Never use the series name and a specific product name together (e.g. E-Series E1200 should not go together. It is either the E-Series or the E1200.) The product family should be described as the E-Series family of “switch/routers” but never just “switch” or “router.” The S50N full product name is “S50N access switch”, although “access switch” is not required.
- Footnote. The following footnotes shall accompany the first or most prominent use by Licensee of the Trademark in each piece of printed matter to identify that Force10 is the source of the product and owner of the Trademark:
For each mark with the "TM" as indicated above: is a trademark of Force10 Networks, Inc., San Jose, California in the United States and other countries.
For each mark with the "®" as indicated above:
______ is a registered trademark of Force10 Networks, Inc., San Jose, California in the United States and may be registered in other countries.
For printing datasheets or other collateral materials which include Trademarks and will be used with Licensee’s customers please include the following:

- Staging. Staging involves proper placement, scale, and proportion of the Trademark and how it aligns with typography and other elements. Licensee shall avoid staging the Trademark at the edges of a page. Licensee shall always surround the Trademark by the preferred clear space.
